Fields allow you to collect and store additional information about your contacts beyond the default contact details. You can use fields in landing page forms to capture custom data, and filter on that data when creating segments. This article explains the available field types and how to create a new field.
What is a Field?
A field is a data point you define yourself, for example, "First Name", "Address", "Favourite artist", or "City of origin". When you add a field to a landing page form, contacts can fill it in when they register. The collected data is then stored on their contact profile in the contact detail page. Fields are managed under Audience > Settings > Fields.
Field Types
When creating a field, you choose a field type that determines what kind of data is collected and how it is displayed in your landing page form.
Text stores a free-text answer. Use this for open-ended questions like a name, a discount code, or any short written response.
Email stores an email address.
Phone Number stores a phone number.
Date stores a date value.
Yes/No stores a Boolean answer, contacts select either yes or no. Use this for opt-in questions like "Keep me updated".
List displays a dropdown menu in your landing page form with a fixed set of options you define. The contact selects one option. Use this when you want to capture a structured answer, such as "Which city are you travelling from?"
Tags displays a dropdown menu in your landing page form linked to your existing tags. When a contact selects an option, the corresponding tag is applied to their profile. Use this when you want a single tag applied based on the contact's selection.
Tags (multi select) works the same as Tags, but allows the contact to select multiple options, applying multiple tags to their profile at once.
Country stores a country selection.
