Landing Page Settings for Newsletter Sign-Ups

Written by Benjamin Havenaar

A newsletter sign-up landing page lets people subscribe to your email or WhatsApp updates. The focus is on collecting consent in a clear, GDPR-compliant way while keeping the barrier to sign up as low as possible. This article covers the recommended settings for each step of the landing page editor when setting up a newsletter sign-up page.

For a full walkthrough of the editor, refer to this article: How to Create a Landing Page.

Campaign Settings

Save registration as: Contact.

Tag: Add a tag that identifies this subscriber group, for example "newsletter-2026" or "whatsapp-subscribers". This lets you easily segment and target them when sending your next campaign.

End date: Not recommended for newsletter sign-ups. Leave this open so people can subscribe at any time.

Form Settings

Keep the form as short as possible. The goal is maximum sign-ups, so remove any friction.

Recommended fields: First name, last name and Email for an email newsletter, or Phone for a WhatsApp subscriber list. If you want to reach contacts via both channels, include both Email and Phone.

Avoid adding optional fields unless you have a specific reason. Every extra field reduces conversion on a sign-up form.

Consent: This is the most important part of a newsletter sign-up page. Configure the consent block to match exactly the channels you plan to use. If you are building an email list, enable email consent. If you are building a WhatsApp list, enable WhatsApp consent. Set the consent block as required so contacts must actively opt in before submitting. This is a legal requirement under GDPR.

Make sure your consent text clearly describes what people are signing up for. Avoid vague language like "stay updated", be specific about what they will receive and how often.

Confirmation Page

Confirm the sign-up and tell people what to expect next.

Example: "You're subscribed. We'll keep you in the loop about everything coming up."

If you are building a WhatsApp subscriber list, consider adding a note reminding people to save your number so your messages do not get filtered as spam.
