Integrity Advocate Not Launching

S
Written by Support

If Integrity Advocate does not appear when launching your exam or demo exam, or if the system did not request an ID (note that while some activities may not require an ID, Integrity Advocate should still be visible), and the activity went straight to the exam, this may indicate a configuration issue on the activity provider’s side.

What should I do if Integrity Advocate does not recognize my camera or microphone?

  • Verify that browser permissions for the camera and microphone are enabled for the exam site.

  • Close and relaunch the browser after changing permissions.

  • Ensure no other applications are using the camera or microphone.

Please contact your activity provider to confirm that everything is properly set up.

Alternatively, you can contact Integrity Advocate Support directly:

General Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Clear Browser Cache and Cookies:

    • Open your browser (e.g., Chrome, Edge, or Safari).

    • Access the settings menu (three dots in the top-right corner for Chrome).

    • Navigate to 'Clear browsing data' or 'Delete browsing data.'

    • Select a time range (e.g., 'All time') and check 'Cached images and files.'

    • Click 'Clear data' and relaunch the exam page.

  2. Update Your Browser and Operating System:

    • Ensure your browser is updated to the latest version.

    • Check for operating system updates and install them if available.

  3. Disable VPN and Conflicting Extensions:

    • Disconnect from any VPN services.

    • Go to your browser's extensions page (e.g., chrome://extensions for Chrome).

    • Disable extensions that may block permissions, such as antivirus or ad blockers (e.g., Avast, McAfee, Cisco).

  4. Close Other Applications:

    • Ensure no other apps are running in the background, as they may interfere with the exam.

  5. Try an Alternative Browser:

    • If the issue persists in your current browser, switch to another supported browser like Microsoft Edge and repeat the troubleshooting steps.

Device-Specific Troubleshooting

For Mac Users:

  1. Enable Screen Recording Permissions:

    • Open "System Preferences" > "Security & Privacy" > "Privacy" tab.

    • Select "Screen Recording" and ensure your browser (e.g., Chrome or Safari) is checked.

    • Restart your browser and your Mac to apply changes.

  2. Check for System Updates:

    • Ensure your Mac is running the latest macOS version.

    • If updates are unavailable, consider using a device with an up-to-date operating system.

For Work Devices:

  • If restrictions on your work device prevent Integrity Advocate from functioning, try accessing the exam on a personal device. If this is not an option, contact your IT department or activity provider for assistance.
