This article is a quick look at what you can see and do when you're creating a class activation with iQualify. We've tried to keep this as a one-page overview, so we've included links out to more information throughout if you need it.

What is an activation?

An activation is essentially a live class of learners. When a course is published (by the author), that published version can be activated. The same course can have multiple class activations. Check out this video for an explanation of the distinction between course content and a class activation.

Activating a course

When you've got manage permissions, you'll see the option to activate on a course card. After selecting Activate you can then set up specifics for that activation.

Image shows the create dashboard, with search results for a course title and the activate button for that course highlighted.

Note: If you have both a manage and author permissions, the row button will say Edit.

Activate the content by selecting the kebab menu (three dots) and then Activations. This will open the activations modal. Select the + New activation button to create an activation.

Image shows the open modal after selecting the Activations menu item from the kebab menu.

Activation settings

Once you have selected the Activate button, you will be directed to a page with the following tabs:

  • Details - Set course identifiers, upload a study guide, create course sets, categories, and enable social features and talk channels.

  • Self-signup: Enable anyone with the link to join a class, and add a price for your course if Stripe is enabled.

  • Dates - Set the dates for your class, opening/closing dates, individual sections, due dates for assessments or opt to use learner relative dates.

  • Access - Add learners, facilitators and coaches to your class.

  • Assessment: See scoring, marking and attempts allowed for assessed tasks.

  • Badge - Add a badge for learners to achieve. If you want to add a badge to your course this needs to be done before you activate it.

  • Media - Add a cover image and course trailer.

  • Content - See an outline of the course content. You can also hide content for the particular activation from here too.

When you have finished working through the tabs, scroll down and select the Activate course button. An email will be sent to everyone to notify them they have been added to the class.

You can also edit parts of an activation once you've activated it, including adding/removing learners and amending the informamtion in the course overview.
