Technology Requirements

Students will need access to the following in order to successfully take an Assesslet:

· A device such as tablet, Chromebook, or computer (a phone is not recommended due to screen size).

· Access to the internet via a web-browser (Chrome recommended).

· Username and password

Key Considerations

Before Administration

-How much time is needed for schools/teachers to assign Assesslets to students?

We recommend providing access to teachers at least 1 week in advance in order for teachers to assign Assesslets to students and provide the necessary directions and login information to students. See the step-by-step guide Assigning Assesslets to Schools/Teachers and Assigning Assesslets to Students.

-Is the use of the secure browser option required for the Assesslet administration?

This is a local decision and must be set by the district (if a district purchase) or school (if a school purchase) admin. See the step-by-step guide Setting the Secure Responder. Please make teachers aware of how to unlock the secure browser for students before testing. Also, explain to students they will not be able to communicate with teachers using Zoom or other tabs during secure testing.

-How should we communicate login and password information as well as the website URL to students?

This is a local decision. We recommend a secure method of communicating login and password information to students.

There are several ways to access lists of student logins and passwords from District and School Connect Lite. See the step-by-step guide Printing Student Login Information.

-Are there set days and times for students to log in and take the Assesslet?

This is a local decision. Teachers can show or hide the Assesslet until the administration date/time or they can manually set the access times for students. We recommend staggering administrations to ensure teachers can provide support for students who may need help and potentially do a test run with a student to make sure there are no issues. See the step-by-step guide Setting Assesslet Access Times.

-How can we best support our teachers during an administration?

We recommend having a documented local school process in place. In addition, our team is available through the chat button (blue button in the bottom right hand corner of the screen when you log in to our platform) where teachers or administrators can reach out directly for support.

-How will our students understand how to take an Assesslet?

We recommend providing the Student Experience Video to students prior to administering the Assesslet. The video is approximately 3:00 minutes long and demonstrates how students log in, how they take the Assesslet, and finally how to submit their work. See the video Student Experience Video.

During Administration

-How will our teachers monitor students during the administration?

We recommend using the Live Dashboard feature should students be taking the Assesslet during a set time frame. This allows teachers to monitor, in real time, as students are taking their Assesslet to look for students who may be rushing through the Assesslet or students who may be stuck. See the step-by-step guide Monitoring Live Administrations.

-What happens if a teacher needs to reset (student has submitted too early) a student’s Assesslet during the Assesslet administration?

We recommend having local guidelines for continuing a student’s Assesslet. See the step-by-step guide Continuing a Student’s Assesslet.

-Who will students contact if they have an issue while taking their Assesslet?

We recommend having a local school plan for contacting teachers and/or staff should students have trouble during their Assesslet administration.

After Administration

-How will teachers confirm that all students have submitted their Assesslets for scoring?

We recommend teachers review the Administration Analysis Report to confirm all students have successfully submitted their Assesslets and responses are waiting to be scored. See the step-by-step guide Accessing the Administration Analysis Report.
