Who This Article Is For

This article is for paid LiGo users who want to turn any web content into ready LinkedIn posts fast.

If you use the LiGo v2 extension (LinkedIn Extension / linkedin chrome extension), this feature is available in your browser.

What You Will Learn

  • How Repurpose Content works in the v2 extension

  • Two simple ways to convert pages into three post variations

  • How to edit, personalize, and publish the generated posts

  • Best practices, copyright tips, and troubleshooting

Quick Summary

Repurpose Content takes text or ideas from any page - like a Medium article, a Reddit thread, or a YouTube video page - and turns that content into three LinkedIn-ready post drafts. The feature was available on the web app before. Now it is also available in the v2 LinkedIn extension.

Note: The v2 extension is available only to paid LiGo users.

You can either paste the content manually or use the LiGo icon that appears on supported pages to auto-detect the content and generate posts with one click.

Quick Checklist

  1. Make sure you have the v2 extension installed and you are a paid LiGo user

  2. Open the page you want to repurpose

  3. Use the LiGo icon or paste content into the extension

  4. Click Generate Posts. Review and edit the three drafts. Post the one you like

Before You Start - Requirements & Access

  • v2 extension only. Repurpose Content in the extension works only in the v2 version of our LinkedIn Extension.

  • Paid users only. The v2 extension is available only to paid LiGo accounts. Check plan details on the Pricing Page if you need to upgrade.

  • Browser setup. Use the browser where the v2 extension is installed and enabled.

  • Public or accessible content. The feature works on pages you can view. Private pages or pages blocked by site rules may not be detected.

Note: This tool generates post drafts. It does not publish to LinkedIn automatically. You can review, edit, and post each draft yourself.

How Repurpose Content works

Repurpose Content can work two ways:

  1. Manual mode: You pick a content type in the extension, paste the part of the page you want to repurpose, and click Generate Posts.

  2. Auto-detect mode (recommended): When you open a supported page, the LiGo icon appears. Click it and the extension detects the main content and fills the convert box automatically. Then click Generate Posts.

The extension uses the detected or pasted content to make three different LinkedIn post styles for you. Each variant aims to match a common LinkedIn format: a short hook with CTA, a storytelling post, and a quick tips or list post.

The posts are saved to drafts so that you can edit any variant before posting

How The Two Ways Differ

Manual conversion is great if you only want a small excerpt or you want full control over what part of the page becomes a post.

Auto conversion is faster and simpler. It is useful when you see a full article, thread, or video description you like and want three quick post ideas.

Pick the way that matches your workflow. For most users we recommend auto conversion to save time.

Manual Conversion: Step-By-Step

Step 1 – Choose your content type

From the list presented to you. Choose what kind of content it is that you would like to convert to a LinkedIn post. In our example, we will be choosing Blog Post.

Step 2 – Copy the Content and Paste It

Copy the content that you would like to convert and paste it in the extension

Step 3 - Generate Posts

You can hit Generate Posts whenever you are ready. Multiple variants of your post will be created and you can use whichever one it is that you like & add it to drafts.

Pro tip: Copy only the key paragraphs or the part that has the main idea. Short inputs give clearer, tighter post drafts.

Automatic Conversion (Recommended): Step-By-Step

Step 1 - Navigate to Content

Navigate to your desired content type. In this example we will be converting a medium article.

Step 2 - Select LiGo Icon

A LiGo icon will appear when you are on the page of the content that you would like to convert, select Generate Post. Once you do that, your content type will automatically be detected and your content will be pasted on the convert your post box.

Step 3 - Generate Posts

You can either edit the parts of the content that you did not like or directly generate posts. After clicking “Generate Posts” multiple variants of your post will be created and you can use whichever one it is that you like.

Note: The auto mode only detects what is visible and allowed by the site. If a page blocks content detection, use manual mode instead.

What The Three Post Variations Look Like

The generator creates three different styles so you can pick the tone that fits your audience:

  • Short hook + CTA. A short, punchy opener that grabs attention and ends with a call to action. Use this for quick engagement.

  • Story format. A longer version that frames the idea as a short story or case. Use this for thought leadership.

  • List or tips. A quick list or how-to post that makes it easy to scan. Use this when you want practical value.

Each variant is a draft. Edit for voice, clarity, and accuracy before posting.

How To Edit & Personalize Generated Posts

  • Add a personal line at the start or end. A one sentence personal note increases engagement.

  • Shorten long sentences for LinkedIn readability. Keep paragraphs short.

  • Add relevant hashtags and tag people if appropriate.

  • If you used a source idea, add a short credit line and link back to the original. That keeps you honest and helps readers find the source.

  • Check facts. If the original content made claims, verify before you repeat them.

Pro tip: Use one hashtag for the main topic and one for your brand or series. Too many hashtags reduce reach.

Examples - Medium Article, Reddit Thread, YouTube Video

Below are short before and after samples to show how a single idea can turn into three LinkedIn posts.

Medium article idea (short): A writer explains three steps to improve email open rates.

Variant 1 (hook): “If your emails are being ignored, try these 3 changes. #emailmarketing”

Variant 2 (story): “We tested a 3-step change and open rates rose. Here is what we changed and why it worked.”

Variant 3 (list): “3 quick fixes to improve email opens: 1) Subject line test 2) Short preview 3) Send time.”

Reddit thread idea (short): A thread about lessons from a startup failure.

  • Variant 1 (hook): “The hardest lesson from our failed startup was this one thing.”

  • Variant 2 (story): “We thought product market fit was a short sprint. It was not. Here is what we learned.”

  • Variant 3 (tips): “Startup lessons: 1) Talk to users early 2) Cut costs fast 3) Focus on one metric.”

YouTube video idea (short): A talk about growth loops.

  • Variant 1 (hook): “Growth loops beat funnels. Here is a simple loop to try.”

  • Variant 2 (story): “We built a loop that grew users 3x in six months. Step by step.”

  • Variant 3 (list): “Growth loop steps: 1) Source 2) Convert 3) Retain.”

Best Practices & Tone Tips

  • Make each post yours. AI drafts are a start, not the final voice.

  • Keep language simple and honest. Use short paragraphs.

  • Give credit where it is due. Link or mention the original content if it inspired the post.

  • Avoid posting exact copies of long text. Paraphrase and add your view.

Copyright & Attribution Guidance

  • If you are repurposing someone else’s original article, thread, or video, give them a short credit or link back. That is fair and often required.

  • Do not copy large blocks of text verbatim. Paraphrase and add your perspective.

  • When in doubt, link to the source and say something like “Inspired by [Author/Source]”

Note: This is general guidance and not legal advice. If you have a specific copyright concern, consult a lawyer.

Troubleshooting - Common Issues & Fixes

  • LiGo icon does not appear. Refresh the page. Make sure the v2 extension is enabled for that site. If the page blocks extensions, use manual mode.

  • Detected content is incorrect or missing. Edit the detected text in the convert box or paste the content manually.

  • Generate Posts button fails. Check your internet connection and the extension status. Try restarting the browser.

  • Posts are off tone. Edit the draft and add your voice. Use the story variant to add context.

Limits & Known Behaviors

  • The extension detects the content that is visible and allowed by the page. It may not capture paywalled or private content.

  • Very long pages may be summarized. If you need detail, paste the exact excerpt you want.

  • The feature is available in the v2 extension only. You must be a paid user to access it.

Access & Pricing

Common Questions

Q: Will the extension post to LinkedIn for me?

No. It only creates drafts. You copy, edit, and post manually.

Q: Why isn’t the LiGo icon showing up on the page I’m trying to repurpose?

This can happen if the page blocks extensions, your v2 extension isn’t enabled for the site, or the page hasn’t fully loaded. Refresh the page and try again. If detection still fails, switch to manual mode by pasting the content directly into the extension.

Q: Can I regenerate new variants?

Yes. Edit the input or paste a different excerpt and click Generate Posts again.

Q: Does it work on all sites?

Yes & No. The manual method works for every single website, but the automatic method is currently only supported for LinkedIn, Reddit, X, Medium articles & YouTube.

Q: Does Repurpose Content have any limitations?

Yes. The extension only detects what is visible and allowed on the page. Paywalled or private content may not be captured. Very long pages might be summarized, so if you want precision, paste the exact paragraph you want to use. The feature also requires the v2 extension and a paid LiGo plan.

Q: Is attribution required?

If the idea is taken from another creator, give credit and link back. Paraphrase rather than copy. If still in doubt, consult a lawyer.
