What Are FedEx Freight Direct Returns?
It is the nature of B2C shipping that when a consumer receives a good they purchased, they may want to return that good for a variety of reasons. For Freight Direct shippers, there is a need for an easy way to handle the returns of goods that were shipped using Freight Direct services.
Shippers want a way to quickly process the return with minimal effort required by the consumer. This includes, but is not limited to, finding the original shipment, retaining all the original shipment information, selecting how the shipment should be returned, and tracking the dispatched shipments through delivery.
As users of LTL Select, we are now able to create a return shipment in as few clicks as possible with the correct information and using the correct account. Thus minimizing the time necessary to dispatch a return while still having the benefit of seeing accurate pricing and shipment visibility.
How To Set Up FedEx Freight Direct Returns?
FedEx Freight Direct Returns are available for FedEx Freight Direct Accounts in LTL Select. You first have to have a FedEx Freight Direct Account set up with FedEx and then add as a location in LTL Select.
1. From the Dashboard screen, navigate to "Locations" in the left hand navigation menu.
2. Scroll down and click + Add Location located on the left in the Location Overview section.
3. Check the box next to "FedEx Shipper Account".
4. From the FedEx Account Type dropdown menu, select "Freight Direct".
5. Complete all other required fields and click Add on the bottom right.
You will now be able to use the new “Freight Direct” location to Book Shipments and initiate Freight Direct Returns.
Note: Shipping Information must match the Billing Address on file with FedEx for the Freight Direct Account.
How To Use FedEx Freight Direct Returns?
1. Click Book Shipment on top of the Dashboard page.
2. Select your Freight Direct account number from the “Bill To Location” dropdown.
3. Check the box to the left of “Freight Direct Returns”.
4. In the “Search for a Return” field enter your Tracking or PRO number and click on the “Search Glass” icon. The Tracking Number Results window will pop up. Click Confirm on the bottom right of the window.
Note: The Return Tracking ID # will not appear under the search field with the same number selected in step 4.
5. Enter “Ship Date”
6. Click Next.
7. Continue with the rest of the Book Shipment steps to complete shipment: Origin, Destination, Line Items, Rates, Finalize, Review and Book.
