Connecting your mailbox to Lemlist and other sequencers

How to connect your Maildoso mailboxes (SMTP and Google Workspace) to Lemlist and similar tools.

Two ways to connect

How you connect a Maildoso mailbox to a sequencer like Lemlist depends on the mailbox type. SMTP (Maildoso) mailboxes and Google Workspace mailboxes connect differently — they are not interchangeable.

SMTP (Maildoso) mailboxes — connect via CSV / IMAP & SMTP

  • In Maildoso, go to Email accounts and click Export to CSV (use the "Other" format if your tool isn't listed).

  • In Lemlist, add each mailbox using the IMAP and SMTP details from that file (host smtp.maildoso.com port 587, IMAP imap.apollo.maildoso.com port 993).

  • Recommended Lemlist settings: enable SSL for IMAP and disable SSL (use STARTTLS) for SMTP.

Google Workspace mailboxes — do NOT use the CSV / smtp.maildoso.com method

Google Workspace mailboxes are hosted by Google, not on Maildoso's SMTP servers. Pointing a sequencer at smtp.maildoso.com with a Google Workspace mailbox will fail with a "535 authentication failed" error — this is expected, not a propagation delay. Connect them one of these ways instead:

  • Recommended: go to Settings → Sequencers, pick your sequencer, click Configure and enter your credentials. Then open Email accounts, filter Provider = Google Workspace, select the mailboxes and click Add to sequencer (this uses Google OAuth).

  • To connect a Google Workspace mailbox directly to your own tool, use the username, password and OTP shown on the mailbox card (click the mailbox → details on the right), or the API under Settings. There is no IMAP host in the CSV for Google Workspace mailboxes.

If you're building your own sending app over SMTP/IMAP, use SMTP (Maildoso) mailboxes rather than Google Workspace.

Custom open/click tracking domains aren't supported

Maildoso fully manages DNS for your domains and does not allow third-party CNAME/TXT records. That means a sequencer's custom tracking domain (used for open/click tracking, which needs a CNAME) cannot be verified on a Maildoso-managed domain. Sending works normally; only the sequencer's own open/click tracking on that custom domain won't validate.

How long it takes

For Google Workspace mailboxes, the connection to a sequencer can take 2 to 24 hours to finish. If a mailbox still isn't connecting after that, reach out with the mailbox name and we'll take a look.
