What is a product in Makula?

A product is a predefined template that lets you create assets quickly and consistently. By setting up a product with standard fields, documentation, and parts, you can create multiple assets with the same configuration without entering the same information repeatedly.

How do I access Products?

Navigation: Open your Field Service workspace, then select Products from the sidebar.

Why use products?

Products help you:

  • Save time: Create assets quickly using predefined configurations

  • Ensure consistency: Maintain standardised information across similar assets

  • Reduce errors: Avoid manual data entry mistakes by reusing product configurations

  • Manage documentation: Attach standard documents that are inherited by all assets created from the product

How are products linked to assets?

When you create an asset from a product, the asset inherits the product's configuration including name, description, documentation, and parts. The asset displays the product model as a tag to indicate its origin.

If you edit an asset's inherited fields (such as description or parts), the asset becomes independent from the product for those fields. Future changes to the product will not apply to that asset.
