✏️How to Edit Order

Editing orders in Shopify allows you to add or remove items, adjust quantities, and update the order as needed. Whether you're using a desktop, Android, or iPhone device, follow these steps to efficiently manage and modify your orders.

1. Add Products to an Order

You can add products to an existing order and either email an invoice to the customer or accept payment directly.

Desktop:

  1. Access Orders:

    • From your Shopify admin, go to Orders.

  2. Select the Order:

    • Click on the order you want to edit.

  3. Edit Order:

    • Click Edit.

  4. Add Products:

    • In the Add Product section, either type the product name or click Browse to view your store’s products and collections.

    • To add a custom item, click Add custom item.

  5. Select Products:

    • Choose the products or variants you want to add.

    • Note: You cannot add a product variant that is already on the order. Instead, adjust the quantity of the existing variant.

  6. Finalize:

    • Click Done.

    • Optionally, add a note under Reason for edit (this note won’t be visible to your customer).

    • Review and update the order.

Android & iPhone:

  1. Access Orders:

    • Open the Shopify app and tap Orders.

  2. Select and Edit Order:

    • Tap the order you want to edit.

    • Tap the (Android) or ... (iPhone) menu, then tap Edit.

  3. Add Products:

    • Tap Add product, search for the product, or tap Add custom item for custom entries.

    • Select the product or variant and tap Done.

  4. Finalize:

    • Optionally, add a note under Reason for edit.

    • Review and update the order.


2. Remove Items from an Order

If you need to remove items or swap them out, follow these steps:

Desktop:

  1. Access Orders:

    • From your Shopify admin, go to Orders.

  2. Select and Edit Order:

    • Click the order you want to edit, then click Edit.

  3. Remove Items:

    • Under the item you wish to remove, click Remove item.

    • Optionally, deselect Restock item if you don’t want the item to be restocked.

  4. Finalize:

    • Optionally, add a note under Reason for edit.

    • Review and update the order.

Android & iPhone:

  1. Access Orders:

    • Open the Shopify app and tap Orders.

  2. Select and Edit Order:

    • Tap the order you want to edit, then tap the (Android) or ... (iPhone) menu, and tap Edit.

  3. Remove Items:

    • Under the item you wish to remove, tap Remove item.

    • Optionally, deselect Restock item if applicable.

  4. Finalize:

    • Optionally, add a note under Reason for edit.

    • Review and update the order.


3. Adjust Item Quantities in an Order

To change the quantity of items in an order, follow these steps:

Desktop:

  1. Access Orders:

    • From your Shopify admin, go to Orders.

  2. Select and Edit Order:

    • Click the order you want to edit, then click Edit.

  3. Adjust Quantities:

    • Under the item you want to adjust, click Adjust quantity.

    • Enter the new quantity and click Done.

    • Optionally, deselect Restock item if you reduced the quantity.

  4. Finalize:

    • Optionally, add a note under Reason for edit.

    • Review and update the order.

Android & iPhone:

  1. Access Orders:

    • Open the Shopify app and tap Orders.

  2. Select and Edit Order:

    • Tap the order you want to edit, then tap the (Android) or ... (iPhone) menu, and tap Edit.

  3. Adjust Quantities:

    • Under the item you want to adjust, tap Adjust quantity.

    • Enter the new quantity and tap Done.

    • Optionally, deselect Restock item if applicable.

  4. Finalize:

    • Optionally, add a note under Reason for edit.

    • Review and update the order.
