Spreading your public transport subscription cost across months

Understand how multi-month subscription costs are split in your mobility budget

Written by Zeynep

Ordered a 3-month SNCB or De Lijn pass and noticed your entire budget disappeared on day one? That used to be the norm — but not anymore. When this feature is enabled, Mbrella automatically spreads the cost of your multi-month public transport subscriptions evenly, so your available budget always reflects what you've actually used.

How does it work?

Let's say you have a €100 monthly budget and you order a 3-month SNCB subscription for €240.

  • Without the split: the full €240 is deducted from your budget in month one, leaving you with no remaining budget for months two and three, even though you're still actively using the subscription.

  • With the monthly split enabled: Mbrella automatically divides the cost: €80 is deducted each month, so your budget stays accurate and usable throughout the entire subscription period.

No manual action needed! It all happens automatically in the background.

What does this mean for you?

  • ✅ Your available budget always reflects what you've actually consumed that month

  • ✅ No more blocked budget after ordering a multi-month pass

  • ✅ Works automatically, nothing to configure on your end

Which subscriptions are affected?

All multi-month public transport subscriptions (more than 1 month) ordered through Mbrella's PTO feature, including:

  • SNCB

  • STIB

  • De Lijn

  • TEC

  • B-parking

  • And more

This feature is activated by your account manager only. If you'd like to enable monthly expense splits for your organisation, reach out to your Mbrella account manager.
