When ringing up a customer using POS, you can give a customer a discount specific line items. Just add the products to the cart and follow the steps below.
Click into the Discounts area
Select "Add Line Item Discount."
You will be shown a list of line items currently in the order cart. In this case, let's select the Mellows Birthday Cake and add a discount.
After selecting the item to discount, you will again be shown a list of all the discounts you have set up in the system.
When you select one of these discounts after selecting a line item, it will only apply to that product. If you selected the "Student discount" it would subtract 10% from the selected line item.
You also have the ability to create a Custom Discount.
To make a Custom Discount you will be asked to Select a Manager from the list and enter a PIN to confirm.
Then enter the % or $ amount you want deducted from the line item in the discount.
Lastly, you will be asked to name the custom discount (this way you can tell why the discount was given and keep track of them in your reporting).
After you have added a line item discount, it will show how many have been applied in the Discounts area under Edit Line Item Discounts.
On this screen you have the ability to also add an order level discount in addition to the line item discount.
Lastly, you will see the discount reflected in the menu view under "Discount applied" and the order Total.
