Saved carts: How can I pause a customer's order and get back to it later?

Sometimes you need to put an order on hold for a minute. Using "Save Cart" you can save your progress and help other customers first.

As soon as any product is added to the cart, you will be able to save the cart

  • The "Orders" button in the top right corner of POS now changes to "Clear Cart" when you attach a customer or add products to the cart.

  • Select "Clear Cart" and you will have the option to "Suspend" or "Clear" the cart.

  • Pausing a cart will save it for later: any customer you attached, discounts applied, etc. will still be there when you pull up the saved cart later.

  • If you haven't attached a customer profile, you will be asked to enter a customer name (so you can find the correct saved cart later). You can attach a customer profile to the saved cart when you retrieve it for checkout.

NOTES

  • Saved carts are NOT orders - they do not create orders in the system and they do NOT hold inventory. Saved carts disappear automatically after 24 hours.

  • A saved cart will not hold any unit of product, so if another customer buys the last unit first that product will be removed from the saved cart upon checkout. If you want to hold inventory for a saved cart, it is best to physically bag it and/or set it aside.

  • If you save a cart without a profile attached, you will be prompted to enter a name. This does not create a customer profile, it only adds the name to the cart.

  • If any part of the cart is deleted (such as a product or discount) between being saved and checked out, it will be removed from the cart.

  • Timed automatic discounts will be applied when the order is saved but calculated again at checkout (so discounts may be added/removed depending on checkout time).

  • Pulling up a profile at POS does not automatically search for or flag saved carts (like it does for pickup orders). You can search saved carts by name in the tab on the Orders list.

  • Existing orders can't be turned into saved carts - pull up existing orders by searching the Orders list at POS.
