How do order statuses, types and sources work in Meadow?

Order statuses, types and sources help you differentiate between your orders.

Updated over a week ago

Every order in Meadow has a few attributes that tell you about it:

  • Status

  • Type

  • Source

Use these to keep track of where orders came from and which orders are new, which are packed for sale and which are completed.

What is the order status?

  • Draft: order has been placed and does not hold inventory, can be used when you want to assign inventory after the order is created. Learn more about Draft orders here.

  • New: order has been placed and no action has been applied to it.

  • Packed: order has been marked as packed in the order view in Admin. See which user marked the order as packed and the time.

  • Fulfilled: order has been completed at POS, or marked as fulfilled in Admin or Onfleet (the system automatically updates the status when a driver marks a delivery complete in Onfleet). This order's value will show up in Dashboard under "Fulfilled Orders." Customers are only given loyalty points for fulfilled orders.

  • Cancelled: order has been cancelled. All products associated with this order is returned to inventory and its value is removed from revenue totals.

  • All order types except cancelled are included in Insights and in Dashboard under "All Orders."

What order types exist in Meadow?

  • In-store: This order type is for orders created at the point of sale, for example an order is placed and completed in your shop (or at an event location).

  • Delivery: This order type is made to be delivered to a specific address outside your shop. Delivery orders will automatically create an Onfleet task that the dispatcher can assign to a driver.

  • Pickup: These orders are made for collection at your shop. This is an order type (which remains static) but also shows up in the filter tabs at the top of the Orders view.

  • Meadow supports both Medical and Adult-Use designations for every order type, depending on your Settings.

  • You can also allow Anonymous orders (if "Orders require attached customer" is turned off under In-store Settings).

What order sources exist in Meadow?

  • Admin: Any order type can be manually created from within Admin using the Create Order button.

  • Embed: The embedded menu lives on your website and reflects your live inventory and prices. You can use this to let customers browse featured products, or you can enable ordering for delivery and/or pick-up directly from the menu.

  • In-Store: These orders are created using Meadow's POS app on an iPad.

How do these variables effect other areas of the system?

  • Shows both the number and dollar value of all orders placed that day and fulfilled that day (broken down by the user that created the orders).

  • Shows all orders created on the day/week/month/year, including those with status marked "new." An order that was created yesterday and fulfilled today would appear in yesterday's figures for insights

  • Use the Order Status filter to view revenue for either All Orders created on the selected date or only orders marked fulfilled that day.

  • The most comprehensive report, you can distinguish between new, packed, fulfilled and cancelled orders, as well as view which user applied that status and when.

  • When generating an Orders Report, you can filter to view orders created during or fulfilled during the selected date range.

  • This report will shows products sold using the date the order was marked fulfilled.

  • Products in new, packed and cancelled orders are not included in this report.

Notes

  • Orders must be marked fulfilled to give loyalty points to a customer.

  • Changing an order status in Admin will not impact the total of a Drawer that completed a transaction. To make a change to a drawer, open Shift Sales in the app and select Adjust Balance.
