How can I set up a kiosk for customers to order on their own?
How can I set up a kiosk for customers to order on their own?

Using the embed menu kiosk link you can turn any iPad or tablet into a standalone station for customers to order delivery or pickup.

Want to set up a kiosk in your shop or at a location you deliver to?

Follow the steps below to load your menu from a special URL to set up a kiosk on any hardware (for example an iPad or iPad Pro) that you want to let customers use to order.

There are two kiosk modes: allow pickup and delivery orders, or only allow pickup orders.

By default, Meadow's kiosk allows creating delivery orders. This can be used if you are setting up a kiosk at a location away from your shop that you deliver to:

If you want to disable delivery orders and only allow pickup orders, change the URL to (kioskAllowsDelivery=false)

Naming your kiosks (optional)

  • To set the name of a kiosk, add ?kioskName=name to the end of the URL

  • Whatever name is set for that kiosk will appear in the Order Notes section for that order.

Once you have chosen the kiosk settings (allowing delivery orders or not) and name, replace the "420" with your Meadow org ID and then enter the URL into your kiosk hardware.

If you are using an iPad for the kiosk, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Safari browser on the iPad you are setting up for kiosk ordering.

  2. Enter the kiosk URL (with your org ID).

  3. Click the share button in the top right corner of Safari, select Add to Home Screen.

  4. Name it as you please. This icon will now appear on the iPad as an app.

Suggested Settings

  • If you are using an iPad for kiosk ordering, there are a few settings that may help improve the customer experience.

  • For example, if you go to Settings --> Accessibility --> Guided Access, you can enable this setting to make sure customers can't leave the kiosk menu on the iPad and go checking their email. You can also use this setting to make sure the screen doesn't auto-lock on your customers.

  • You can also decide what settings if any might be helpful for access for your customers (such as allowing screen magnification or text to speech).

  • For any hardware customers will be interacting with, it's best to delete any information or tools you don't want them to access (for example by using the "factory reset" option on the iPad).

NOTES

  • If a customer does not interact with the menu for more than 30 seconds, a prompt will popup and ask if they are still there. If they do not respond, the cart will be cleared of any products, any logged in customer will be logged out, and the menu will return to the home page.

  • If a customer logs in or signs up to complete an order, the menu will automatically log them out after the order is placed (to make sure the next customer can't see their information).

  • Kiosk orders will record the order source as "Embedded Menu (Kiosk)."

  • By clicking the menu in the top left corner, you can confirm which kiosk mode you are in (allowing delivery orders or pickup only). To change the selected mode, delete the kiosk app and create a new one in the correct mode.
