My Luma Will Not Turn On or Charge

If your Luma device appears completely unresponsive, uncharged, or fails to power up, walk through these direct technical checks to isolate the cause.

1. The Power Safety Interlock

The single most common reason a Luma will not turn on is that it is actively connected to its power cord. To maintain clinical safety, the Luma is engineered with an internal block that prevents it from turning on while plugged into the wall. Always disconnect the charging cable entirely from the device chassis before trying to turn it on.

2. Charging Requirements & Specifications

  • The MedcoVet Charger: Always use the official charging block provided in your original kit. The Luma requires a specific power flow of 5V at 2A to balance the battery cells.

  • Third-Party Charger Risks: Standard phone charging bricks, laptop blocks, or vehicle USB outlets may fit the physical port but often provide incorrect voltage. This will cause the device to refuse the charge or trigger battery errors.

  • Physical Inspection: Verify that the charging cable is inserted completely into the Luma's port and isn't blocked by household lint, dust, or pet fur. Try testing the block in an entirely alternative wall outlet to confirm power flow.

3. Proper Button Operation

When activating the device, make sure you press and hold the primary power button continuously for 3 full seconds. Quick taps or light clicks will not activate the system, and ensure you are not accidentally pressing the neighboring 'Illuminate' button.
