The articles in this section of the Knowledge Base involve working with Groups for display in reports. To learn more about Groups and how to access the Report Designer, see Understanding Groups in the Report Designer. This article details properties specific to Group Header bands and Group Footer bands.
Keep Group Together Property
Sometimes a group may not fit on one page. Several Data Rows in a group may be output on one page, and the rest of the Data Rows in that group output on the next page.

When the data is split up like this and printed apart from headers, it becomes confusing. The Keep Group Together property of the Group Header band is used to avoid splitting the data up.

When the Keep Group Together property is set to true, then, if a group cannot be placed on one page, the whole group is moved to the next page. If it is impossible to print a group on the next page, then the group is forcibly broken and output on multiple pages.

Keep Group Header Together Property
The Group Header band has another property called Keep Group Header Together.

When this property is set to false, the group header can be displayed on one page, and the data of that group printed on another page. The data can be split from the header.

When the property is set to true, the group header is displayed with at least one Data Row of a group.

By default, the Keep Group Header Together property is set to true.
Keep Group Footer Together Property
Just like with the Keep Group Header Together property keeping the Group Header locked to its data, the Keep Group Footer Together property prevents the Group Footer band from separating from the data in which it is associated.
