Written by Jordan Munoz

Licensing Error -4 is a potential error users may experience when attempting to load Microvellum BSB. This error occurs rarely and randomly, often without explanation. The software may display an error message noting that there is no valid license for the product, or that it is locked to another computer. There are 2 general options for attempting to resolve this issue.

Option 1 - Delete and Reset the Data Folder

Warning: This option has the potential to cause issues if done improperly, so use it with caution.

  1. Open the device in the Explorer. Click "View", then "Show", then "Hidden Items" from the pop-up menu.

    1. After showing hidden items, the "Program Data" menu should be displayed in the explorer.

  2. Open the "Program Data" folder and navigate to the "Microvellum" subfolder. The Microvellum BSB license folder should be titled "482056".

  3. Delete the license folder.

  4. Open the Registry Editor application.

  5. Navigate to the file path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microvellum\KeyInfo.

  6. Right-click on the Key Info folder and rename it to something else. (No specific name is required.)

  7. Close the Registry Editor.

  8. Run Microvellum BSB as an administrator. When prompted, re-enter the license ID and Password.

  9. This should resolve the issue.

Option 2 - Uninstall and Reinstall

Another option is to uninstall and reinstall Microvellum BSB via Windows. The steps for this can be found in the Uninstalling BSB article.

Ensure that all trial versions of Microvellum BSB are uninstalled before reinstalling.
