After a library update, it might be the case that one finds their parts and products are not being drawn or added to the project correctly. This issue is caused by a fundamental aspect of a library update: library updates refresh the template specification groups of a project, but do not touch the specification groups already within the project. If a cabinet placed in an existing job depends on a variable introduced by the update, part generation can fail. However, updates generally do not alter or remove your existing configurations or libraries unless new components or libraries are added to existing projects post-update.
Revert Component From Template
The solution for this issue is to revert the project's Global / Wizard specification group to the template version, so it inherits the new variables.
Go to Microvellum Settings > Project Specification Groups.
Select the spec group collection you're using on the left.
In the component list on the right, select the component you want to reset.
Right-click, then select ‘Revert Component from Template’.
Do note reverting replaces any custom values you'd changed in that specification group with the template's defaults. If you customized any settings there, you'll need to reapply them after reverting. 2D Drawing Adjustments
Reverting the Global/Wizard spec group can also change text and dimension sizing on cabinets that share it. If your 2D drawings look off after reverting:
Open Microvellum Settings > Library/Project Specification Groups > Open Global File > Shop Drawings.
Adjust the global shop drawings settings there to your liking.
To avoid this issue in the future, it is recommended to finish any active projects before running a Library Update, as new projects will get the updated template automatically, but existing ones will need to revert using the steps above. Additionally, it is advisable to back up your current configurations and libraries before initiating an update to ensure you can restore your setup if needed.
