What’s the difference between Scale Weight and True Weight?

Understanding daily weight numbers vs long-term progress

Updated over a week ago

Your weight can change from day to day for many normal reasons. That’s why the app shows two different lines in your progress graph, so you can see both the daily numbers and the bigger picture.

What is Scale Weight?

Scale Weight is the number you see on your scale and log in the app. It often goes up and down due to everyday factors such as water retention, salt intake, hormones, digestion, sleep, stress, workouts, or the time of day you weigh yourself.

In the app, your Scale Weight is shown as a pale grey line in the Weight graph in the Progress tab. We use your logged weigh-ins and fill small gaps between entries to keep the graph continuous.

What is True Weight?

True Weight is your smoothed trend line, calculated from your Scale Weight using our algorithm. It appears as a deep blue line in the Weight graph in the Progress tab.

Instead of focusing on daily ups and downs, True Weight highlights the overall direction of your progress. This helps you see whether you’re gradually moving closer to your goal, without getting discouraged by normal short-term fluctuations.

✍️ Note: In short, Scale Weight shows today’s number, while True Weight shows your real progress over time.
