Understanding Active vs Inactive Inventory

Learn the difference between active and inactive inventory and how an Amazon listing’s status can affect what you see and manage in AccelerList.

What Is Active Inventory?

An active listing is generally available for sale on Amazon, assuming it has available inventory and no other restrictions preventing customers from purchasing it.

Amazon allows sellers to filter listings by status, including Active and Inactive, in Manage All Inventory. Amazon Seller Central

What Is Inactive Inventory?

An inactive listing is not currently available for purchase.

A listing can become inactive for several reasons, including:

  • Quantity is zero or the item is out of stock

  • The listing was closed

  • Required listing information is missing

  • The listing was suppressed

  • There is a pricing issue

  • The product requires additional approval

  • Amazon has restricted or blocked the listing

Amazon's Inactive Listings report can include zero-quantity, blocked, suppressed, not-yet-opened, and past-end-date listings. Amazon Seller Central

How Does This Affect AccelerList?

AccelerList receives inventory and listing information from Amazon. If Amazon changes the status of a listing, that information can be reflected in AccelerList after synchronization.

An inactive item does not necessarily mean the listing has been deleted. The SKU may still exist but currently be unavailable for sale.

What Should I Check?

If an item unexpectedly appears inactive, locate the same SKU in Amazon Seller Central and review its status and any warnings or required actions.

Resolving the underlying issue on Amazon is usually the first step before expecting the updated status to appear in AccelerList.
