Why Did My Inventory Item Become Inactive?

Explains common reasons an inventory item may become inactive and what to check in Amazon Seller Central when this happens.

Why Can an Item Become Inactive?

Amazon can mark a listing inactive for several reasons. Common examples include:

  • The available quantity reached zero

  • The listing was closed

  • Required product information is missing

  • Amazon suppressed the listing

  • There is a pricing issue

  • The product requires approval

  • The listing no longer meets certain Amazon requirements

For FBA inventory, Amazon may also classify inventory as stranded when units remain at an Amazon fulfillment center but there is no active offer associated with them. Amazon Seller Central

Does Inactive Mean the Item Was Deleted?

No. An inactive listing can still exist in your Amazon inventory even though customers cannot currently purchase it.

Depending on the reason, you may be able to reactivate it after correcting the underlying issue.

How Do I Find the Reason?

In Seller Central, go to Manage All Inventory, filter for inactive listings, and locate the affected SKU.

What About AccelerList?

Because AccelerList receives inventory information from Amazon, an Amazon status change may also affect how the item appears in AccelerList.

If Amazon shows the item as inactive, resolve the Amazon-side issue first. Once Amazon updates the listing, allow time for the new information to synchronize with AccelerList.
