Fixing eBay Shipping Details Errors

This guide explains how to resolve missing weight and dimension errors by adding the required shipping details to successfully publish your eBay listings.

Updated over a week ago

While cross-listing items to eBay, you may encounter an error like the one shown above stating that the package weight is invalid or missing. This happens when eBay does not have enough shipping information for the item, which is required to calculate shipping costs and delivery options.

Why this happens

This error usually occurs because:

  • The product data pulled from Amazon does not include weight or dimensions

  • eBay requires valid shipping details before allowing the listing to be published

  • The item may not have complete catalog data available through the eBay API

How to fix it

You have two options to resolve this:

✅ Option 1: Add the details manually (recommended)

  1. In the listing window, scroll to Update Product Dimensions

  2. Click the checkbox or section to enable it

  3. Select Use Package Dimensions (Recommended)

  4. Enter the following:

    • Weight (required)

    • Dimensions (Length, Width, Height)

    • Package Type (e.g., Letter, Box, etc.)

  5. Save and proceed with listing

This is the quickest and most reliable way to fix the issue.

🛠 Option 2: Contact eBay Support

You can reach out to eBay and request that they update the missing product data in their catalog. If they add it, the information may automatically populate in AccelerList in the future.

💡 Tips

  • Always enter accurate weight and dimensions to avoid shipping issues or additional charges

  • Even if optional, adding dimensions helps prevent future listing errors

  • Books and media items typically use small package types like Letter or Parcel

One-line summary

This error occurs when eBay is missing required shipping details, and it can be fixed by manually adding the item’s weight and dimensions during listing.
