Enabling Screen Recording Permissions on Mac

Allow screen recording permissions on your Mac so Nearo can share your screen correctly.

If Nearo cannot share your screen or display screen-sharing features correctly, your Mac may be blocking screen recording permissions.

macOS Ventura and Sonoma

These steps apply to newer Mac computers, including both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

  • Click the Apple menu  in the top-left corner.

  • Open System Settings.

  • Select Privacy & Security.

  • Click Screen & System Audio Recording or Screen Recording.

  • Find the browser or app you are using with Nearo, such as Chrome, Safari, or Firefox.

  • Turn on permission for that app.

  • Completely quit and reopen the app before trying Nearo again.

ℹ️ On some Macs, Apple may show Screen Recording instead of Screen & System Audio Recording.

macOS Monterey, Big Sur, and Catalina

These versions are common on Intel Macs.

  • Click the Apple menu  in the top-left corner.

  • Open System Preferences.

  • Select Security & Privacy.

  • Open the Privacy tab.

  • In the left sidebar, click Screen Recording.

  • Check the box next to the browser or app you use with Nearo.

  • Completely quit and reopen the app before trying again.

If the settings are locked

  • Click the lock icon in the bottom-left corner.

  • Enter your Mac password.

  • Make the permission changes.

If the app does not appear in the list

  • Reopen the app or browser.

  • Try to start screen sharing again so macOS displays the permission prompt.

  • If available, use the + button in the Screen Recording settings to manually add the app.

If Nearo still does not work

  • Completely quit the browser or app.

  • Restart your Mac.

  • Try screen sharing again.

🔔 Some browsers or apps may also require permission for:

  • Microphone

  • Camera

  • Accessibility

These settings are available in the same Privacy & Security section.
