Sell Back Your Book offers a convenient service that allows you to send and sell books you would otherwise donate or discard. Their service allows you to make a profit where you normally wouldn't.

Signing up for SBYB (Sell Back Your Book) in NIM

To begin setting up Sell Back Your Book (SBYB) in Neatoscan, start by navigate to your settings, then follow the steps below.

⚠️ You will need to reach out to Sell Back Your Book, now rebranded World of Books, and set up an account with them before you can submit a shipment. You sign up in Neatoscan Books either before or after reaching out to them.

  1. From the settings, go to the SBYB tab.

  2. In the SBYB tab, go to the Scanning tab and enter your information, then click register. If you would like to use the Purge feature as well, repeat the process in the Purge tab.

⚠️ The email used for the Purge sign-up has to be different than the email for the regular Scanning sign-up.

After you’ve registered, the SBYB Token and your Email should be displayed:

Adding Pickup Locations

  1. From the Purge or Scanning tab, click Add New Pickup Location to set up the address where SBYB shipments will be picked up.

  2. Enter your address and company info.

  3. Select Add Pickup Location to save the new information.

Creating a Scanning SBYB Shipment

To create a standard scanning SBYB shipment, follow the steps below.

⚠️ Shipments cannot be deleted after creation.

From the Neatoscan home screen, open the Sell Back Your Book section:

  1. From the Shipments tab in the Sell Back Your Book Section, click Add Shipment, which will prompt a pop-up window to create a name for it.

  2. Enter the name you would like for your shipment, then click Add Shipment in that window.

Now that your shipment has been created, you will be able to start scanning items into it:

💡Note: You will only be able to have 1 shipment at a time per email address. 1 shipment for SBYB Purge, and 1 shipment for SBYB scans.

Scanning Into Your SBYB Shipment

Now that you have created a shipment, you are ready to scan items into it. Any item with the Accept/Reject result "Sell back your book" will be sent to your shipment. To begin, go to Pre-Scanning & Receiving.

When you scan a book that triggers an SBYB result, you will be notified how much money you are estimated to receive for that book and that it's added to the shipment. You will also be shown how many copies of that book SBYB will accept.

How to Use the Purge Feature for SBYB

The purge feature allows you to submit a set of SKUs to be analyzed for Sell Back Your Book results. Once reviewed, the system will close all SKUs submitted so you can go about purging them. The items that had SBYB results will be automatically added to your SBYB shipment.

Run and download the report you would like to use

The SBYB Purge feature can use any report that has a SKU column. Active inventory, Active inventory v2, Dead inventory, and more can all be used to look for SBYB results. When submitting SKUs, only child copies will be accepted.

Submitting the Report or List for Purging

In this part of the process, you will submit either a report or a list of SKUs in feed or report formatting. This means that there must be a column header that says "SKU" with child SKUs under it. When you are ready to submit items to be scanned for SBYB results and closed, read the following steps below.

⚠️ Items that are submitted for purging will be closed/delisted. Pull all items on the report or list of SKUs you submitted once you receive the results.

From the Neatoscan home screen, open the Sell Back Your Book section.

  1. Go to the Purge tab.

  2. Click the icon to open and choose your result folder.

  3. Choose the folder where you would like your purged item results to go to, then click OK.

  4. Click the icon to open your file explorer and choose your feed.

  5. Click on the feed you would like to submit, then click Open.

  6. Click Submit to scan the file for SBYB results.

Viewing the Purge Results

If there were SBYB results in the report you submitted, it will be downloaded to the assigned folder you chose. You can also see the results by doing the following:

  1. Go to the Shipments tab in the SBYB page.

  2. Click on the purge shipment you created in the last steps.

From here, you will be able to view the total estimated amount of money you will receive on the books you are sending. You will also be able to see each ASIN that had an SBYB result. Once you have received these results, you should begin removing all of the items in the report or list you submitted from their locations.

⚠️ Make sure you have set aside your SBYB items so they are ready to be shipped.

Submitting your Purge Shipment

These steps are the same as submitting a regular SBYB Shipment. The following images and directions are also shown in the Submitting your SBYB Shipment

  5. Select the date you would like your shipment picked up (At least 48 hours after submission).

  6. Add the number of Gaylords you are shipping in the bottom right corner.

  7. Click Submit Shipment on the bottom center of your screen.

Now that the shipment has been submitted, you will receive a notification from SBYB that the shipment has been confirmed, along with the true amount of money you will be paid for your shipment. You will have to enter this info in order to confirm the shipment on the Neatoscan side.

  1. Go to the Orders tab after submitting your shipment.

  2. Select Your shipment in the list.
