Overview

Tagging is the first step in the listing process for many operations. The tagging process helps store teams track the sales of their items sent to e-commerce. This article will walk through the features and workflow of the Tagging section on the Collectibles side of Neatoscan. Due to the user permissions set up for your account, your interface may vary from the ones shown in this article.

Tagging

The tagging process begins at the store level, where users scan, tag items with barcodes, and place items into assigned containers. This process involves the following steps:

  1. Creating a container.

  2. Scanning and tagging items.

  3. Closing the containers.

  4. Printing the manifest.

  5. Sending the container(s) to the warehouse.

The sections below provide a detailed explanation of each step.

Workstation Settings for Tagging

When setting up your machine for tagging, begin by going to Settings > Workstation and then fill out the settings shown below.

  1. Workstation Building: This is the building you are currently working out of.

  2. Item Tag Printer: The printer that will print tags for the items you scan into containers. This setting can also be set to Do Not Print.

  3. Manifest Printer: The printer that will print manifests once you’ve finished scanning in your items. The manifest will print out as a full sheet of paper by default. This setting can also be set to Do Not Print.

  4. Container Printer: The printer that prints container tags that are placed on the outside of the containers to scan in later.

  5. Scale: If you choose to weigh your items when tagging, this is where you will select the scale you are using.

Creating a New Container

Once you are set up to begin tagging, your first step is to create a container. To do this, click on New Container, then choose your container type, origin building, and container category. There is also an option to add a security seal to the container.

  1. Select New Container.

  2. Choose your container type from the dropdown menu.

  3. Choose the building you are tagging from in the Origin Building dropdown menu.

  4. Select the Container Category.

  5. (OPTIONAL) Add a security seal. You can enable a setting to make this required if preferred.

  6. Click OK to finish creating the container.

Scanning Items Into the Container

Next, you will select the container and begin to create tags for items that will be placed inside of it. A tag will print each time you create an item. This tag should be placed securely onto the item.

💡Tip: You can have multiple containers open at the same time to increase efficiency!

  1. Select your container. (The container will auto-select if you only have one open)

  2. Give your item a title. This will be shown on the tag that prints out on step four. You aren’t required to enter a name for your tag, but it is recommended.

  3. Select the Origin, Quantity, and Weight if needed.

  4. Select Create to print out the item tag, and then place your tagged item into the container.

Editing or Deleting Items in a Container

If you need to change an attribute of an item or delete it, you can do this by selecting Edit/Delete. This is demonstrated below.

  1. Click on Edit/Delete while your container is selected.

  2. Scan or manually enter the barcode of the tag attached to your item and click Enter.

  3. Rename the item in the textbox if you want to rename your item.

  4. Click Save to confirm your changes. (To remove the item entirely, select Delete here).

Closing the Container and Printing the Manifest

Once you have tagged all of your items and they are in their assigned containers, you can close the container(s). Once the container is closed, the Manifest will print. The Manifest displays a barcode and all of the items scanned into the container. This is the last step of the sorting process in Neatoscan. From here, the Manifest can be sent with the shipment, and a copy can be saved.

  1. Select the Container you would like to close.

  2. Click Close Container. The manifest will now print if set to do so in your settings.
