Are there any fees associated with an Auctions transaction?

Yes, there is a flat 3% fee included for every transaction that is processed through your Auction’s pages.

There is also an additional fee of 2.9% + 30 cents per transaction made on your Auction.

Why is Bonterra charging us a processing fee? Are you making money off our donor’s transactions?

Bonterra works with the major credit card companies to provide the lowest possible processing fee for transactions made through our system.

The processing fee covers those fees charged to process and handle credit card transactions and the related support of those transactions. They are used to pay banks and other administrative costs.

What payment processors are currently available for my Auction?

Currently, customers have the option to use Bonterra Payments to process transactions made through their Auctions platform.

If I am using Bonterra Payments for our Auctions pages, am I automatically set up to use Bonterra Payments?

No, you will need to set up your own account for use with our Auctions pages.

If we are using Bonterra Payments for our Auctions pages, will we be able to offer Apple Pay or Google Pay as a payment option for our donors?

No, Apple Pay and Google Pay are not currently available for use with our Auctions pages.

However, if you are using Bonterra Payments for our Fundraising Pages, both Apple Pay and Google Pay are available as a payment option for one-time donations. For more information on this, please click here.

Do donors have the option to cover the processing fee?

You can opt to provide your donors the option to cover the processing fee during checkout, so that your organization receives a greater percentage of the intended contribution from your bidders.

Can we require our donors to cover the processing fee?

We strive to give your bidders the most agency as possible in donating to your organization – so while you can provide bidders with the option to cover the fee, the fee cannot be required of your donors.

If a donor requests a refund for a transaction where they covered the processing fee, will they be refunded for both the transaction and the fee?

Yes, your donor will receive a refund for the entire transaction that they made.
