How Do I Guide My Donors in Making a Donation Through PayPal?
Updated over 5 months ago

For those who use Bonterra Payments to process transactions within your Network for Good platform, your donors have the added ease of making donations through their PayPal accounts.

Making donations using a PayPal account is easy and straightforward - we've provided steps that you can share with your donors below.

Making a Donation Using PayPal as a Payment Method

When a donor has clicked on the "Donate" button on your donation page, they should then be prompted to select the amount they'd like to donation from the pre-defined donation amounts (or enter the amount they'd like to give, if you've enabled the option for them to donate custom amounts).

Your donor should continue through the donation process until they come to the "Payments" step.

Once on the Payments page, donors should select "PayPal" from the available payment options.

Once your donor has selected PayPal as their preferred payment method, they'll be redirected to PayPal's secure website, and prompted to either log into their existing PayPal account or sign up for a PayPal account.

Once logged into PayPal, your donor will be asked to review the donation details, and then select one of their available payment options within their PayPal account. If everything looks correct, then the donor can authorize the payment by clicking "Complete Purchase."

Once your donor's payment has been processed, PayPal will automatically redirect them back to your Fundraising Page where the donation was initiated, and they should receive a confirmation that their donation has been successfully processed.

Donors should also receive the standard automated tax receipt for their PayPal donation, as they would for any other transaction.
