How Do I Use PayPal and Venmo with Bonterra Payments to Process Transactions?
Updated over a week ago

For those who use Bonterra Payments to process transactions within your Network for Good platform, your donors have the added ease of making donations through their PayPal or Venmo accounts.

This gives your donors a convenient and widely-used payment method, in addition to the standard payment methods available, giving your donors more agency and making it easier for them to log in and make a donation.

NOTE: PayPal as a payment method is only available for those organization who are already utilizing Bonterra Payments. If you are using Network for Good's Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) as a payment processor, and would like to learn more about Bonterra Payments, please click here.

Configuring Fundraising Pages to Accept PayPal as a Payment Method

To configure your Fundraising Pages to accept PayPal, you'll first need to log into Fundraising Pages. If you're logged into Donor Management, you'll want to click on the "My Tools" button in the top-right corner, and then select "Fundraising Pages" from the drop-down menu.

Once logged into Fundraising Pages, you'll want to click on the tab at the top labeled "Settings," and then select the option for "Payment Profile" from the drop-down menu.

NOTE: You will need to have already configured Bonterra Payments as a payment processor prior to proceeding with this setup. If you'd like to learn more about configuring Bonterra Payments, click here.

Next, you will want to click on the dark yellow "Get Started" button in the yellow banner at the top of the screen.

When the page reloads, you should be prompted to enter or confirm information about your organization (such as your address).

Once everything looks correct, click "Next."

When the page reloads, click on the green "Connect PayPal Account." You should then be redirected to PayPal's website, which will then prompt you to use your existing PayPal credentials to log in.

NOTE: Your organization will be listed instead of "Test Store", as seen in the screenshots below.

Once you've logged into PayPal, you will need to click on the "Allow" button on the screen to grant the appropriate permissions to connect your PayPal account to Bonterra Payments.

The next screen will prompt you to enter an email address and phone number for your organization. This information will be used to provide a resource to those making donations through PayPal who might need further assistance or have questions.

Once you've entered that information, click "Next."

You should now see a confirmation message that your organization is approved to use PayPal. Click on "Return to (YOUR ORGANIZATION'S NAME)" to go back to your Fundraising Pages account.

Once PayPal has authorized the connection to Bonterra Payments, you should see an "Active" status next to the PayPal option on your Payment Profile.

Once that "Active" status is displayed, your organization should then be able to receive donations through PayPal from your donors and supporters!

Configuring Fundraising Pages to Accept Venmo as a Payment Method

We've got good news - once you've set up PayPal as a payment method, your organization should also automatically see Venmo as an option for your donors to utilize as well - no further setup needed!
