Why was my card payment declined on Wise, Revolut, or similar platforms?

nsave cards cannot be used for money transfer transactions, including funding accounts or sending transfers on platforms like Wise, Revolut, Remitly, WorldRemit, and similar services.

Updated today

If your nsave card payment was declined when trying to fund an account or send a transfer on a platform like Wise, Revolut, Remitly, WorldRemit, or a similar money transfer service, this is expected behaviour and not a bug or account issue.

What happened?

Your transaction was declined because it falls under the Money Transfer merchant category. Transactions classified under this category are not supported on nsave cards.

This includes any transaction where the card is used to:

  • Fund an account on a money transfer or fintech platform

  • Send a transfer to another person or account via such a platform

  • Top up a wallet on a remittance or payment service

Why is this restricted?

This restriction is imposed by our card issuing partner. Money transfer merchant categories are blocked at the issuer level, which means these transactions will be automatically declined before they reach nsave. This is not something we can override on our end.

Which platforms are affected?

Any platform classified under the Money Transfer merchant category may be affected. Common examples include:

  • Wise (formerly TransferWise)

  • Revolut

  • Remitly

  • WorldRemit

  • Western Union

  • MoneyGram

  • Other similar remittance and money transfer services

This list is not exhaustive. Any merchant operating under the Money Transfer category code may trigger a decline.

What can I do instead?

If you need to send money through one of these platforms, you can fund them using your nsave bank account details instead of your card:

  • ACH transfer (for USD, within the US)

  • SWIFT/Wire transfer (for international transfers)

  • Faster Payments (for GBP)

You can find your nsave account details in the app by tapping on Account Details (top-right button on your home screen).

What can I use my nsave card for?

Your nsave card works for most everyday purchases, including:

  • Online shopping

  • Subscriptions and recurring payments

  • In-store contactless payments via Google Pay

  • Travel bookings and services
