Your nsave card is a USD card, and it spends from your USD balance only. Money sitting in your GBP, EUR or other currency balances isn't visible to the card — the card doesn't pull from them automatically.
The fix takes under a minute: convert to USD in the app first, then spend.
How to spend money you hold in GBP or EUR
Open the nsave app and go to your GBP or EUR balance.
Tap Convert and exchange the amount you want to spend into USD. You'll see the rate before you confirm.
Make sure the money is available to your card, then pay as usual.
Convert before you're at the checkout. If the card has no USD available when a payment comes in, the payment is declined — the card won't dip into your other balances to cover it.
Why is it like this?
The card runs on USD end to end. Keeping it single-currency keeps card payments fast and predictable — you always know exactly what balance the card is drawing from, and there are no surprise conversions happening mid-payment.
You stay in control of when your money converts and at what rate, because you do the conversion yourself in the app before spending.
FAQs
I have plenty of money in GBP but my card payment was declined. Why?
Because the card only sees your USD balance. Convert some GBP to USD in the app and try again.
Can I pay a merchant that charges in EUR or GBP?
The card itself operates in USD. What matters is having enough USD available for the payment.
Will the card ever spend directly from my other balances?
Not currently. If that changes, we'll announce it in the app.
Where do I see the exchange rate?
In the app, when you set up the conversion — the rate is shown before you confirm, so there are no surprises.
