In jmc Office, the "Update Student" feature streamlines the process of resolving state reporting errors resulting from changes to information for an individual student. By sending precise data updates to Nebraska ADVISER, this functionality enables quick resolution without the necessity of updating records for an entire grade, saving you time and guaranteeing the accuracy of data submissions.

To update individual student records, head to Nebraska > ADVISER > Update Student.

Step One: Select a student from the "EdFi Update Student" drop-down list, or enter the student's name in the the "EdFi Update Student" field to select the student to be updated via Ed-Fi.

Step Two (optional): Place a checkmark in the "Delete Existing Data" checkbox to remove existing student data for the student from Ed-Fi before sending current student data.

Fun Fact: Deleting existing data when updating student records can help clear up any persistent, unexplained errors that prevent the smooth flow of data from jmc to ADVISER.

Step Three: Click the "Ed-Fi Send Student" button to send student data to the NDE for the selected student.

Step Four: Fix any errors displayed on the "Update Students by Grade Level Summary" and repeat steps one through three until all data is successfully updated in ADVISER.

Helpful Tip: Click the "Print Summary" button to print a hard copy of the "Update Students by Grade Level Summary" report to reference while you fix the displayed errors, or click the "Cancel Summary" button to return to the previous page.
