Exclusion lists are essential tools in fine-tuning your marketing campaigns by blocking specific contacts or domains from receiving your messages. They are applied at the organizational level, ensuring that once a contact or domain is added to the list, it is excluded from all your account's campaigns. This setup streamlines your marketing efforts by removing the need to set exclusions for each campaign.

Benefits of Using Exclusion Lists

These lists help keep your communications relevant and respectful by avoiding current clients, unsubscribed users, or any groups deemed unsuitable for your messages.

Adding Individual Email Addresses vs. Domains to Exclusions

You can add exclusions in two ways: by individual email addresses or by entire domains.

  • Individual Email Addresses: Adding an email address to your exclusion list ensures that the specific individual won’t receive campaign emails, perfect for excluding existing clients or leads who've opted out. To add one, copy the email address, go to the "All Prospects" tab, select "Exclusions," then "Add" within the Email Exclusions table, and paste the address.

  • Entire Domains: Adding a domain to your exclusion list means all email addresses under that domain won't receive your campaigns. This method is broader, ideal for excluding entire organizations, especially those with which you have existing relationships or have requested exclusion. To add a domain, follow the same steps as adding an individual email but use the domain name (e.g., "@company.com") instead.

Bulk Adding Exclusions

For those managing large datasets, adding exclusions via a CSV file is a time-efficient method. Download our CSV template and list all the email addresses and domains you wish to exclude in a single column labelled "Exclusion." This bulk addition method streamlines the process, allowing for the quick implementation of comprehensive exclusion lists.
