Definition

A Free Text question allows your visitors to provide an open-ended response, and is a valuable tool for collecting feedback, opinions, or suggestions. This type of question can be used in both the 'Assessment/Test' and 'Survey' module, but it's important to be aware that due to being open-ended, it cannot be scored like Multiple Choice or True/False questions.

Two types of Free Text questions are available:

  • Free Text Long (500 characters).

  • Free Text Short (200 characters).

How to add a 'Free Text' question

You should have already added an Assessment module to your page - if not, please follow these instructions first.

  • Select the 'Add' button found to the top left, followed by 'Free Text Long' or 'Free Text Short'.

A new question will be added ready for you to create.

  1. Add your question into the 'Question' field.

  2. Select the 'Required' checkbox if you would like to make the question as mandatory.

  3. If needed, the small bin icon can be selected to delete a question.

Remember that due to being open-ended, free text questions cannot be scored.

๐Ÿ’ก Although not mandatory, an image can be used to support your question or add visual interest. Simply select the 'Insert Image' button to add!

What does a 'Free Text' question look like?

When a visitor views your document they must select the clickable area in order to open/view the Assessment module.

A pop-up box will display listing the Free Text question, followed by the supporting image (if used), and text box to enter their response.
