| 1.Create a Project and BOM |
From your dashboard, click Create Project and enter a Project Name.
Click Create BOM, name it (e.g. "Gear Package"), and click Confirm.
Select Enter Details Manually to build your product list by hand.
| 2. Add Lines for Each Component |
Enter the Manufacturer name (e.g. "Eaton").
Add a separate line item for each section of the gear package — for example:
Panel Boards
Dry Type Transformers
Enclosed Controls
Safety Switches
Optionally add Type numbers to match the structure of the package's table of contents.
Tip: Model your line items after how the manufacturer's package is organized — this makes it easy to assign the right pages to each component in the next step. |
| 3. Upload the Full Gear Package PDF |
Click the Documents tab inside your BOM.
Click Add in the Datasheets column for your first line item (e.g. Panel Boards).
Select Upload a file and upload the full gear package PDF.
Wait for the file to fully load before proceeding — large files may take a moment.
Note: You only need to upload the full PDF once — you'll reuse it across all line items and assign different page ranges to each one. |
| 4.Assign the Correct Pages to Each Line Item Using Adjust Pages |
Click Adjust Page on the first line item's datasheet.
Use the Start and End page fields to unselect all pages first (e.g. pages 1 to 308).
Then select only the page range that belongs to this component (e.g. pages 3 to 194 for Panel Boards).
Click Confirm — only the selected pages will appear in the submittal for that line item.
Click Confirm again to save the annotation/page selection.
Tip: Check the manufacturer's table of contents to identify the exact start and end page for each component section before adjusting pages. |
| 5.Reuse and the PDF Across Remaining Line Items |
Select the remaining line items using the checkboxes.
Click Add Reuse Document → Reuse from another product in this BOM.
Select the line item that already has the uploaded PDF attached and click Reuse Document.
Repeat the Adjust Page process for each line item, assigning its specific page range:
Dry Type Transformers — pages 195 to 223 (example)
Enclosed Controls — pages 224 to 259 (example)
Safety Switches — pages 260 to end (example)
Note: For any additional documents (e.g. a separate enclosure spec), add a new line item and click Add → Upload a file to attach it independently. |
| 6. Compile and Review the Package |
Click Create Document → Create Submittal.
Customize your cover page, header, and footer as needed.
Click Compile Submittal to generate the package.
Review the final output — you'll see a structured table of contents with each gear component as its own section, with the correct pages assigned to each.
Tip: The compiled package will show the total page count including any cover page added by Parspec — this is normal and expected. |
