What's new in the Progress Update?

A tour of the major changes in the Progress Update and where to learn more.

Written by Ivan Escott

The Progress Update transforms how performance tracking works in Peak Strength, along with interface improvements across the app. Here's a tour of the major changes, with links to articles that go deeper on each topic.

Bottom tab navigation

The first thing you'll notice is the new tab bar at the bottom of your screen, with three tabs:

  • Training: your home Training Dashboard.

  • Progress: a new addition (more below).

  • Profile: where your account settings now live.

Progress screen

You can now reach all your Goal Exercise PRs, improvement, history, and technique directly from the Progress tab. The most impactful exercises you've performed display here, so you can track your improvement over time.

Performance screen

The exercise history view has been rebuilt. It now shows your Estimated 1 Rep Max, a chart of your progress over time, a detailed workout history log, the ability to edit sets directly from your history, and your Personal Records.

We'll let you explore it, but if you need help with a specific area:

PRs and Rep Maxes

One of the biggest changes is the separation between your Estimated 1 Rep Max and your Rep Maxes or Personal Records (PRs). These used to be a single number, but they're now two distinct values that mean different things. And we didn't stop at 1 Rep Maxes: Peak Strength now tracks all Rep Maxes up to 10 reps, so you always have new records to chase on your main exercises.

Put simply:

  • Est. 1 Rep Max is your projected current ability.

  • 1 Rep Max is the highest set you've logged for 1 rep in Peak Strength.

The next time you hit a big lift, you'll see a PR or Rep Max achievement screen right after you log the set. The same PR and Rep Max badges appear wherever your exercises are tracked, including your exercise history, Workout Recap, and Cycle Recap.

To dive deeper:

Workout Recap

Your Workout Recap screen has been revamped too. It lists all your best sets, baseline values, Rep Maxes, and PRs from the session.

The "Share" button has moved to the top right corner, and it now exports a new image that showcases the highlights of your workout.

Cycle Recap

Like the Workout Recap, your Cycle Recap is revamped. It highlights the exercises you improved on most during the cycle.

This screen also exports as a shareable image.

Workout Overview

You'll see interface improvements across the app, and a notable one is the Workout Overview. Each Group of exercises is now defined and labeled as a Superset or Circuit.

Account settings

Some parts of your account settings have been reorganized:

  • Training Plan: no longer in Profile. Access it by tapping the cog on the Training Dashboard.

  • Account: now contains your account information, including Membership & Billing.

  • Personal Details: your birthdate, height, weight, and gender.

  • Preferences: how your training is displayed, including units and how your week is set up.

Other interface improvements

  • Calendar swiping: on the Training Dashboard, drag across the top of the screen to move between weeks, or across the bottom to move between days.

  • Closing cards: screens that open from the bottom now close smoothly when you swipe down.

  • Build flows: the keyboard and "Next" button interaction is smoother when entering values during onboarding or a rebuild.

  • Improved contrast: backgrounds across the app have been darkened for better readability.

  • Style refinements: many small visual improvements across the Training Dashboard, Log Set Screen, technique screens, and more.
