If you’re using your Perifit device for pelvic floor training, it’s essential to ensure that your movements and sensor readings are safe and effective. One common concern users report is that the game characters move when they use their abdominal muscles instead of the pelvic floor, which can lead to inefficient training and potential strain.

This article explains how the Perifit probe works, why abdominal muscle engagement can affect your results, and practical tips for optimal probe placement.

Understanding Your Perifit Probe

The Perifit device features two sensors:

  1. Lower Sensor : Located just after the vaginal entrance when the device is inserted. This sensor measures pressure generated by your pelvic floor muscles, which act like a hammock at the bottom of your pelvic cavity.

  2. Upper Sensor : Positioned near the cervix when the probe is inserted. This sensor detects intra-abdominal pressure, which can come from your abdominals, breathing, nearby organs, or even the buttocks.

Why Correct Sensor Use Matters

Only the lower sensor controls game characters during training. The upper sensor’s purpose is to calculate your contraction quality, not to control movement in games. If the probe shifts during training, the sensors may become misaligned, causing the bottom sensor to pick up pressure from a pushing or bearing-down movement rather than a proper pelvic floor contraction. Does that make sense? This misalignment can lead to ineffective training and strain on the wrong muscle groups.

Tips for Proper Insertion and Probe Stabilization

To ensure you’re training safely and effectively, follow these guidelines:

  1. Choose the Right Training Position:

    • Opt for a position that minimizes upper body pressure. Sitting (for Perifit Care+) or lying down (for Perifit Care and Perifit Care+) is ideal. If you choose to lie down, be mindful of maintaining a stable position to prevent the probe from shifting.

  2. Perifit Care+: Use the Probe’s Blocker for Stability:

    • The blocker was designed to keep the probe in place during use. Fit it on the tail of the Perifit Care+ and slide it as close as possible to the lower sensor when the probe is inserted. It will rest between your labia and help maintain the probe’s position. Adjust the exact placement for comfort and to achieve optimal stability.

  3. Listen to Your Body and Rest When Needed:

    • If you notice that your pelvic floor is fatiguing and your abdominals start to take over, stop your training session. Overusing the pelvic floor can lead to unnecessary strain and hinder progress. Always stop when you start to feel fatigued and gradually increase your training duration as your strength improves.

By following these tips, you can ensure that your Perifit training is effective, focused on your pelvic floor, and safe. Proper sensor use and training practices can help you maximize your results and avoid potential issues from unintended muscle engagement.
