I can make the game character move without using my pelvic muscles
Updated over a month ago

You’ve noticed that you can move the game character by arching your back or shifting your hips, without fully engaging your pelvic muscles? It might feel like a shortcut - or even a glitch - but there’s a reason this happens. However, relying on body movement instead of your pelvic floor is mostly counterproductive and can affect your progress. Here’s why and how to make sure you’re training effectively.

Body and probe positioning and movement can affect how the sensors pick up your contractions. If you move your hips or arch your back, the sensors might register movement even if your pelvic floor isn’t fully engaged. This can lead to inaccurate readings and reduce the effectiveness of your workout. To get the best results, try to:

  • Find a stable position before starting – We recommend lying on your back with your legs bent (for Perifit Care) or sitting upright on a hard chair (for Perifit Care+), but you can experiment various positions to see what feels best for you.

  • Stay as still as possible during the workout – Moving your body can interfere with sensor accuracy and affect game performance. (This doesn’t apply to whole-body exercises like the Advanced Workout and Winter Surfer game!)

  • Avoid compensating with other muscles - You might indeed be able to make the character move by arching your back and moving your hips but it defeats the purpose and is counterproductive. Using other muscles means the pelvic floor isn’t getting the full workout, which could slow down progress

  • Check in with your body – It’s common to compensate with other muscles without realizing it. Try to consciously relax your hips, thighs, and glutes to ensure you’re isolating your pelvic floor.

  • Warm up if needed – If isolating your pelvic floor feels tricky, doing a quick Kegel Coach or Practice Lab session before your workout can help.
