Vaginal bleeding can be due to many factors. The repeated action of contracting the pelvic floor muscles during Kegels, plus the physical contact of the Perifit device against the vaginal walls, may loosen some normal vaginal secretions that then exit through the vagina. But sometimes vaginal bleeding can have other root causes. To help you determine what is the best course of action for you, consider the following points:
Consider the quantity and color of discharge. Is this unusual for you or does it represent a sudden change? How long does it last?
Consider the timing of the discharge. If you have spotting or if you have a period, is it possible that what you are observing is related?
Have you previously experienced bleeding during other kinds of penetration, like sexual intercourse or inserting a tampon, menstrual cup, or pessary?
Are there any changes to the vaginal tissues that may explain this bleeding? For example, the vaginal tissues are more fragile after menopause.
If you experience bleeding after any type of penetration, or if the bleeding you have observed is persistent, significant, or otherwise worrisome for you, we recommend discontinuing use of the Perifit and consulting a pelvic health specialist as this could be a sign of an underlying condition.
