Understanding What You Can Do for Your Child on PLAI

Now that your child's profile is set up, learn how to join clubs, register for memberships, respond to events, and manage their profile on PLAI.

Your child now has their own profile on PLAI, linked to your account as their guardian. From here, you can register them for clubs, respond to events for them, and keep their profile and emergency details up to date, all from your account.

Find your child in your Family Tree

Your Family Tree is where every linked child lives. From your account, navigate to your Family Tree, titled "[Your First Name]'s Family Tree." Each child appears as a card showing their profile photo, full name, and a guardian count sub-label (like "1 Guardian" or, if an invited guardian hasn't accepted yet, "1 Guardian • 1 Guardian Pending"). Tap a child's card to open their Child Profile screen.

From the Child Profile screen you can see and manage:

  • [Child's First Name]'s Details, with an edit (pencil) icon

  • A medical/health information tile, if any medical data exists

  • Linked Guardians, showing each confirmed guardian's name, relationship label, and phone number

  • Emergency Contacts, with a yellow "Primary" badge on whichever contact is marked primary

  • Child's Documents, showing sharing status with clubs

  • A "Delete [Child Name]" link at the bottom, in red

Register your child for a club

  1. From your dashboard, tap Join or Create Club and search for the club by name.

  2. Tap Request to Join. On the Who needs a membership? screen, select your child (you can register a child without registering yourself).

  3. Fill in the club's registration form for your child, including signing the club's handbook if one is attached.

  4. Tap Submit Registration.

Note: If you're already a member of a club and want to add a child, use the same Join or Create Club entry point, or tap the kebab menu (⋮) on the club's page and select Add Membership.

Your child's membership is entirely independent of your own, and you can register them for more than one club.

Respond to events on their behalf

Once your child is part of a club, they'll appear on that club's event schedule. When you tap Respond on an event, a family member picker appears above the response options showing yourself and every linked family member invited to that event. Select your child, choose their response, and repeat for anyone else in the picker.

Important: How payment works depends on the event's fee timing. For "Pay when responding" events, everyone marked Going is grouped into one combined checkout once all responses are in. For "Pay on selection" or "Pay after attending" events, your child's payment is only triggered later, and only if the club admin selects or marks them as attended, independently of anyone else's status.

Keep their profile up to date

  • Edit their profile: from the Family Tree, tap the child's profile, then the edit (pencil) icon on the Details section, to update their name, date of birth, gender, relationship label, or medical considerations. Only confirmed guardians can edit a child's profile.

  • Manage emergency contacts: edit or remove a contact from the child's safety/medical information screen using the pencil or bin icons. Every child must always have at least one emergency contact, so the Primary contact can't be deleted until a different contact is promoted to Primary first.

Note: Updating your child's medical information propagates to every club they're a member of on their next data sync.

Manage their membership and payments

Once registered, view and manage your child's memberships, including updating payment methods or reviewing payment history, from your Wallet.

FAQ

Can I register a child for a club without joining it myself?

Yes. A parent can add a child to a club without becoming a member themselves, and the child's membership is entirely independent of the parent's.

Do I need to add my child's details before I can register them for a club?

Yes. If you have no family members linked yet, add one from your Family Tree before you can register them for a club.

What if my child isn't showing up when I try to respond to an event?

The family member picker only shows family members who are actually in an invited group for that event. If your child isn't in one of the groups, they won't appear in the picker for that event.
