From your Family Tree, tap the child's profile you want to update.
Tap the edit (pencil) icon on the Details section.
On the "Update [Child Name]" screen, you'll see a note: "Enter your child's information as you want it to be displayed to the sports club." Every field is pre-filled with their existing data.
Update any combination of: first name, last name, date of birth, gender, your relationship to the child, or medical considerations.
Tap Save in the header.
On success, you're returned to the Family Tree screen with a toast confirming "[Child Name]'s details have been updated." The child's age shown next to their name (like "Serena, 13 years old") is always calculated from their date of birth, never entered manually, so it updates automatically if you change their birthday.
Field details
Date of Birth shows a date picker only, no free-text entry, with helper text: "We require this to ensure club safeguarding practices are supported."
Gender is two toggle buttons, Male and Female, with helper text: "This is important as it ensures correct team assignment at the club."
Medical Considerations works the same way as on your own profile: selectable chips (No Medical Considerations, Allergies, Anxiety, Asthma, Autism, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Something Else), with a free-text field (up to 120 characters) appearing if you select Allergies or Something Else.
Your Relation to your Child (like "Mother" or "Father") is specific to you. If the child has multiple guardians, each one has their own separate relationship label, editing yours doesn't change anyone else's.
Important: Only confirmed guardians can edit a child's profile. If your guardian invitation is still pending, you won't have edit access until it's accepted.
If you tap back before saving, you'll see: "You have unsaved changes. Are you sure you want to go back?" Confirming discards your edits.
FAQ
What happens if two guardians edit the same child at the same time?
The save that goes through first wins. If you try to save after that, you'll see: "Profile was recently updated. Please review and resubmit," so you can review the latest version before trying again.
Does updating medical information notify the clubs my child is part of?
Yes, it propagates to every club your child is a member of on their next data sync.
Is first and last name required?
Yes. Date of birth and gender are also required, everything else, including your relationship label, is optional.
