If another guardian invites you to help manage their child's profile and you don't have a PLAI account yet, accepting the invite is built into your sign-up flow.
Download the PLAI app if you haven't already, then open the invitation email and tap Get Started.
Sign up with your email or another sign-in method, and complete the sign-up flow through to the Final Details step.
You'll land on the Guardian Invite page, showing the child's full profile as shared by the inviting guardian: name, photo, "Linked to [Inviting Guardian Name]," date added, gender, birthday, and medical considerations. This is read-only, you can't edit the child's profile from here.
Tap Accept & Continue.
You'll land on the Ready to Go? screen, where the child (for example, "Joe Jordan, 13 Years Old") is already listed with edit and delete icons. You can tap + Add another child here too, if you have your own children to add.
Tap Complete Setup to finish.
Note: You must sign up using the same email address the invitation was sent to. The invitation isn't transferable to a different email.
If you'd rather not co-manage the child, tap Decline Invitation instead of Accept & Continue. You'll be taken to the standard "Do you have any children playing at a club?" step in the regular sign-up flow.
Important: Invitation links expire after a set number of days and can only be used once. If your link has expired or was already used, you'll be prompted to ask the inviting guardian for a new one.
FAQ
Can I edit the child's details before accepting?
No, the Guardian Invite page is read-only. Once you accept, you can edit the child's profile from the Ready to Go screen or later from your Family Tree.
What if I already have a PLAI account and I'm logged in when I open the invite link?
You're taken straight to the Guardian Invite screen within your existing session, no need to sign up again.
What happens if I decline and then change my mind?
A declined invitation can't be re-accepted. You'll need to ask the inviting guardian to send a new one.
If I already have a child with the same name, will the profiles get merged automatically?
Not automatically without asking you first. See How Merging Duplicate Child Profiles Works for how PLAI handles this.
