A Group is where members actually live in PLAI, it's what you add people to so you can message them, invite them to events, or manage them as a team. You can create a Group on its own, or nest it inside a Section right away.
From the Groups screen, tap + Add New.
On the Select your Group Type screen, select Group, then tap Next.
On the Give your Group a name screen, enter a name. A live counter shows up to "40/40" characters. Next activates as soon as you type the first character. Tap Next.
On the Give your Group a description screen, enter a description, up to "120/120" characters. Tap Next.
On the Organise your Group screen, choose:
Standalone: the Group sits on its own at the top level, not nested in any Section.
In a Section: pick an existing Section from the picker to nest the Group under it.
Standalone is pre-selected by default.
Tap Next, review the Group's name, description, and type on the Review your Group screen, then tap Continue to Add Members.
Your Group is created and you're taken straight into the Add Members flow.
Important: If you choose In a Section and your club has no Sections yet, you'll see: "No sections exist yet. Please create a section first or choose Standalone," with a shortcut to create one.
FAQ
Can I move my Group into a Section later?
Yes. Placement isn't permanent at creation, you can move a Group in or out of a Section any time from the Manage Groups screen.
What happens if I pick a name that's already taken?
You'll see: "A group with this name already exists. Consider using a unique name." Group names need to be unique within your club.
What if my connection drops while creating a Group?
You'll see: "Unable to create group. Please check your connection." Nothing is created until the request succeeds, so it's safe to retry from the Review screen.
