You can respond to an event from either the Respond button on its card in the Events list, or the respond bar pinned to the bottom of its event detail screen. Both work exactly the same way.
Tap Respond.
A bottom sheet opens with your response options.
Tap your choice.
What happens next depends entirely on how the event's fee is configured.
No fee
The sheet shows Going, Maybe, Not going (or Available, Maybe, Not available for selection-mode events). Pick one, the sheet closes, and your response is saved instantly. No payment step of any kind.
Pay when responding
The respond bar shows Respond & Pay with the amount due now. Tapping Going takes you straight to the Pay for Event screen, no intermediate step. Tapping Maybe or Not going never triggers payment.
Important: If you dismiss the payment screen instead of completing it, you're recorded as Going + Overdue immediately. There is zero grace period on this fee timing.
Pay on selection
The respond bar shows the fee amount with "on selection" next to it. None of the response options, Available, Maybe, or Not available, trigger payment at this point. If the admin later confirms you as part of the selected team, your payment is triggered then. If you're not selected, you're never charged.
Pay after attending
The respond bar shows the fee amount with "after attending" next to it. Responding never triggers payment. After the event ends, if the admin marks you as attended, you'll get a payment notification with a 24 hour grace period before it's marked overdue. If you're never marked attended, you're simply never charged, no notification, nothing.
Changing your response
Tap your existing response pill to reopen the sheet and pick something else. If you'd already paid under pay when responding and change away from Going, your payment record stays as is, there's no automatic refund, the admin would need to handle that manually.
FAQ
Can I still respond after the event has ended?
No, your response locks at the event's end time.
What if my card is declined during Pay for Event?
You'll see "Your payment was declined. Please try a different payment method," and you can try again with a different method.
