Using the Takeout screen

Overview

This article explains how to use the Takeout module in Platter POS, including creating new takeout or delivery orders, using Quick Takeout, and completing payments for pending orders.

Prerequisites

  • Manager or Employee login for Platter POS

  • Takeout & Delivery module enabled

  • Menu items properly added

Steps

1. Log in to Platter POS

  • Open the Platter POS app.

  • Clock in using any valid user ID.

2. Navigate to the Takeout module

  • Tap the Takeout section from the bottom navigation bar.

  • You will see a list of Takeout and Delivery orders that have not yet been paid.

3. View orders by date

  • At the top of the Takeout screen, you will see a Date Selector.

  • Tap the date to:

    • Switch to previous dates

    • View any past Takeout or Delivery orders where payment is still pending.

4. Take payment for an existing order

  • If a customer arrives to pick up their order

    • Tap the customer name from the list.

    • Tap Charge to complete the payment process.

Creating New Orders

4. Create a Takeout or Delivery order (New Order)

  • Tap New Order.

  • Choose order for Pickup or Delivery.

  • Enter required customer details:

    • Customer name

    • Customer phone number

  • (Optional) Add an estimated ready time for the order.

  • Add items to the order.

  • You can:

    • Take payment immediately, or

    • After sending the order, tap the Takeout module from the bottom navigation bar. (If the user wants to leave the order unpaid and add it to the pending list)

    • The order will automatically appear in the Takeout unpaid list with the customer’s name and phone number.

When the customer arrives, the order will be listed with their name and phone number, making it easy to locate and take payment.

Quick Takeout

5. Use Quick Takeout for fast service

  • Tap Quick Takeout.

  • No customer name or phone number is required.

  • The menu will open instantly so the user can:

    • Add items

    • Take payment immediately


      Quick Takeout is ideal for fast-moving environments like cafés or counter service.

Troubleshooting

  • Order not showing in the list:

    • Ensure you are in the correct Takeout or Delivery tab.

    • Confirm the order is still unpaid.

  • Cannot take payment:

    • Check if the order was already finalized.

    • Verify the payment terminal connection (if using card payment).
