Overview
This article explains how to search for items in the Platter POS quickly. The search function allows users to find items across all menus, making it easy to add products without switching between menu screens.
Prerequisites
User must be logged into the Platter POS.
Products must be active in the Back Office.
POS must be synced with the latest menu updates
Steps
On the Order screen, tap the Search Item option at the top of the POS.
Type the product name using the on-screen keyboard.
The search will show results from all menus, even if the user is currently on a different menu.
Example: If the restaurant has Menu 1 and Menu 2, and the user is inside Menu 1, searching for an item from Menu 2 will still display it.
Tap the product from the results to instantly add it to the order.
Close the search to return to your current menu view.
Troubleshooting
The product does not appear in the Search Item
Confirm the product is Active in the Back Office.
Check whether the product is on any restaurant menu (Menu 1, Menu 2, etc.).
Sync the POS if the product was recently added or modified.
Search Item shows no suggestions.
Try typing only the first few letters.
Clear any previous filters that might affect search results.
Check the POS internet connection if your restaurant uses cloud-sync menus.
Search Item is not responding.
Restart the POS app.
Try syncing the menu from Settings.
Ensure the device has a stable connection when using cloud-based menu syncing.
