A room is one physical space in your studio: a podcast booth, a live room, a multi-cam stage. Your clients never see room names. They book setups. Rooms work behind the scenes to protect the space itself.
Here is the rule that makes this powerful: when one setup in a room is booked for a time slot, the whole room and every other setup inside it becomes unavailable for that slot. Setups in your other rooms stay open. That is how you can sell one space three different ways and still make double-booking impossible.

🛠 What a room contains
Room name. Internal only. Clients never see it, so name it for your own clarity.
Address. The full postal address of the space.
Short preview. A shortened version of that address, for the places where space is tight.
Connected calendar. Each room can have its own Google Calendar.
Scheduling overrides. Buffer, cut-off, minimum and maximum session duration.
Session length by day. A minimum and maximum session length set per weekday for this room.
Pricing overrides. A room-specific price that replaces your global base service price.
Active or inactive status.
📍 The two location fields your clients see
These two look similar and do different jobs. Fill in both.
Address is the full postal address. It powers the map on the booking confirmation and is what Google Maps resolves when a client taps through for directions, so it needs to be complete and correct.
Short preview is the trimmed version shown where there is not much room — on your setup cards during booking, and next to the map on the confirmation.
⚠️ If you leave Short preview blank, the setup card falls back to your full address and cuts it off mid-line, like Battersea Studios, 80-82 Silverthorne Rd, Nine Elms, Lo…. It still works, but it looks unfinished on the exact page clients use to choose a space. Something like Battersea Studios, Nine Elms reads cleanly and keeps the full address intact for directions.
Leaving the Address blank is worse: clients arrive without directions, which is one of the most common causes of a late start.
⚙️ Room-level overrides
These are room settings that act as defaults. Every setup in the room inherits them automatically — and any setup can override them when that particular configuration needs to behave differently.

So there are three levels, each one narrowing the last: your studio settings are the baseline, a room can override them for that space, and a setup can override the room for that one configuration.
💡 Set a rule on the room when it should apply to everything in that space — a live room that always needs 30 minutes of reset time, for instance. Set it on the setup when only one way of booking the space differs, like a quick voice-over session in the same room that needs no reset at all. You get consistency by default and flexibility where it earns its keep.
📅 Session length by day
A room can also carry a minimum and maximum session length for each weekday. Open the room and look for the Session length by day block.
Set it at the room level when a space behaves differently depending on the day: a room you share with something else on Wednesdays and can only offer in short sessions, or a large room you would rather protect for long sessions at the weekend.
A blank day inherits from the level above. Session length by day sits in the same three levels as your other overrides — studio-wide (set on Availability), then room, then setup. So you only fill in the days where this room differs from your studio default. Every day you leave blank keeps following the studio.
⚠️ The stricter enforcement that comes with weekday rules is off by default, and is switched on per studio on request. Setting the rules does not by itself tighten anything. Until your studio asks for enforcement, they are configuration rather than constraint, and no existing booking behaviour changes.
When you save, Podyx warns you if a rule would leave one of the room's setups with no bookable length at all — a setup whose own minimum is longer than the maximum you just set for that day, for instance. Read those warnings before you leave the page. It is the mistake this feature invites.

🧠 Why rooms matter
Sell one space several ways with no double-booking risk.
Show availability clients can trust, because the space itself is the source of truth.
Price by space. A premium room can carry a premium rate without touching your global pricing.
Protect your turnaround, since buffer time is held after each session, not before.
💡 V2 is not podcast-only. The same room and setup model works for music, photography, production and event spaces, so you can run very different offerings under one roof.
✅ Deactivate instead of deleting
Mark a room inactive when it is temporarily out of action: renovation, equipment down, or a seasonal close. It stops being bookable but keeps its setups, history and settings, so you can switch it back on later without rebuilding anything.
⚠️ Before you go live
Address and short preview are both filled in.
Open your own booking page and check the setup cards — if an address is cut off mid-line, that room needs a short preview.
The room has a connected calendar.
The room has at least one active setup.
Buffer time matches your real turnaround.
If you set session length by day, no setup in the room was flagged as having no bookable length.
You clicked save after any pricing override.

The first booking of any setup holds the whole room, so your space is never sold twice.
