Understanding Currency Conversion in Polar

If your stores operate in different currencies, Polar automatically converts them into your main currency to ensure data consistency across all stores. We use a universal API to fetch the latest exchange rates daily, ensuring your data remains unified.

You can verify the exchange rates we use by checking the Currency Exchange Rate.

How to Update Your Currency:

  1. Navigate to Settings in your Polar account.

  2. Select your preferred currency from the available options.

Key Points to Note:

  • Daily Conversion Rate: Exchange rates applied to your data are based on the rate from that specific day. We do not retroactively update historical data with newer exchange rates.

  • Weighted Average Calculation: When you view data for a specific period, the daily sales are summed in your selected currency, reflecting a weighted average of the exchange rates used on each day.

Example of Currency Conversion

If your primary currency is USD and you receive sales in Euros, Polar converts them like this:

  • On October 1st, €100 equals $103

  • On October 4th, €50 equals $52.5

  • On October 5th, €70 equals $74.9

  • On October 6th, €110 equals $116.6

For the period, the total of €330 is converted to $347 using the respective exchange rates for each day.

💡 Tip: If you work with multiple currencies, consider using a View with a Global Filter to unify the data. Learn more about setting this up here.

Time Zone Settings

Why Time Zone Settings Matter

Setting the correct time zone is essential for ensuring that your data refreshes align with your business operations and daily workflows. Your selected time zone determines when data updates occur, influencing the accuracy of daily reports and performance analysis.

How to Set Your Time Zone:

  1. Go to Settings in your Polar account.

  2. Select your preferred time zone from the available options.

Best Practices for Time Zone Setup:

  • Consistency Across Platforms: Make sure that all your connected accounts (such as Shopify, Google Analytics, and Facebook Ads) are configured in the same time zone to avoid data discrepancies.

  • Handling Multiple Time Zones: If your connected accounts use different time zones, choose the latest one (e.g., LA time instead of Paris) to ensure that all data is up to date.

Note:

  • On the Analyze Plan, data refreshes once daily at 1 AM in your account's time zone.

  • On the Analyze & Enrich and Analyze, Enrich & Activate Plans data refreshes every six hour.

As Polar depends on the APIs of connected platforms, occasional delays in refresh times can occur.

Number Formatting

Polar allows you to modify how numbers are displayed in your reports, giving you control over how large figures are formatted.

Available Options:

  • Short Numbers: Display large numbers in a compact format (e.g., 1k instead of 1,000).

  • Thousands Separator: Choose whether to display numbers with or without a separator (e.g., 1,000 instead of 1000).

How to Update Number Formatting:

  1. Navigate to Settings in your Polar account.

  2. Select Number Formatting and customize your preferences.

💡 Tip: You can use Custom Metrics to update a metrics formatting.

  • Choose between currency, number, or percentage formats.

  • Define how numbers should appear, including decimals or whole numbers.

  • Add prefixes or suffixes to your data.

Formatting is applied per Custom Metric, so these changes will not affect all metrics in your account. Learn more about setting this up here.
