Overview

This guide will walk you through the steps to connect your Facebook Ads account to Polar. You'll also find detailed troubleshooting instructions to resolve common issues, such as missing permissions or ad spend data.

Whether you're setting up for the first time or resolving connection issues, this article has everything you need to get started.

How-To: Connect Facebook Ads to Polar

Step 1: Verify Admin Access

Ensure you have full admin access to the Facebook ad account(s) you want to connect. Without this level of access, the connection cannot be completed.

Step 2: Go to the Connectors Page

  1. Navigate to the Connectors page in Polar Analytics.

  2. Under the Marketing section, find Facebook Ads, or use the search bar in the top-right corner to locate it.

  3. Click Connect to Polar Analytics.

Step 3: Authorize Access via Facebook Business Manager

  1. You’ll be redirected to Facebook Business Manager.

  2. Log into your Facebook account.

  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to:

    • Select the businesses you want to connect.

    • Review and approve Polar Analytics’ access request.

  4. On the final screen, click Got It to complete the authorization.

Step 4: Configure Your Accounts

  1. Choose the ad accounts you’d like to connect to Polar Analytics.

  2. Click Save Configuration to confirm.

Tip: We recommend connecting only 1–3 ad accounts per connection. You can always add more by selecting + Add Facebook Ads Account later.

Troubleshooting Facebook Ads

Resolving "Missing Permissions" Errors

If you encounter a "Missing Permissions" error when connecting a Facebook ad account, it typically means:

  1. You lack sufficient permissions for the ad accounts listed in the error message.

  2. Polar Analytics has not been granted the necessary permissions for the business managers owning the ad accounts.

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Verify Your Access to the Ad Account

  1. Log into Meta Business Manager settings.

  2. Navigate to the Ad accounts section

    • If no results appear when searching for the ad account number:

      • You don’t have access to this ad account.

      • In that case you need to “Request access to an ad account” and ask the ad account owner for access to that ad account with the admin role.

    • If the ad account appears:

      • You have partial access.

      • Look for your name in the list of people associated with the ad account.

Step 2: Verify Your Permissions

  • If your name is not listed:

    • Request that someone who is listed add you to the ad account with full permissions by clicking “Add People.”

  • If you can see your name,

    • Click on your name.

    • Ensure that the Manage Ad Accounts permission is toggled on.

    • If the toggle is visible and on, proceed to Step 4.

    • If the toggle is not visible:

      • This means you lack the necessary permissions.

      • Contact the ad account owner or an admin to grant you an Admin role to enable the permission toggle.

Step 2: Confirm Polar Analytics Permissions

  1. Open your personal Facebook profile and navigate to the Business Integrationspage.

  2. Locate the Polar Analytics app integration, and click View and Edit.

  3. Ensure all permission toggles are turned on, especially:

    • Manage ad accounts

    • Read ads

Step 3: Reset the Connection

  1. Remove the Polar Analytics app from your Facebook Business Integrations.

  2. On the Polar Analytics Connectors page, delete the broken Facebook connector.

  3. Reconnect your Facebook ad account following the steps outlined earlier in this article.
