Overview

This guide will help you set up optimal tracking configurations for Bing Ads to ensure accurate attribution within Polar Analytics. For an overview of why tracking parameters are crucial for Polar Attribution, check out this article.

Step-by-Step Guide:

Step 1: Access Auto-Tagging Settings

  • Log in to your Bing Ads account.

  • From the collapsible menu on the left, navigate to:
    โ€‹All campaigns > Settings > Account level options.

Step 2: Enable Auto-Tagging

  • Find the Auto-tagging of UTM section.

  • Select the option: Add UTM tags to my destination URLs.

Step 3: Configure UTM Parameters

  • Decide how to handle your existing tags:

    • Replace all existing tags: Removes any current UTM tags and replaces them with the recommended ones below.

    • Keep existing tags: Retains your current UTM tags and appends the missing tags.

  • In the Tracking Template field, paste the recommended Bing UTMs provided below.

UTM Parameters:

{lpurl}?utm_source=bing&campaign_id={CampaignId}&ad_id={AdId}&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign={Campaign}&utm_content={AdGroupId}&utm_term={AdGroup}&msclkid={msclkid}

Step 4: Save Your Changes

  • Click Save to apply the new tracking configuration.


By following these steps, your Bing Ads will now use the recommended UTM tags, improving the accuracy of Polar Attribution insights.
